The 4th Middle East Course of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition

Tuesday the 2nd of February 2016 has marked the start of the 4th Middle East course of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, where a group of renowned intellectuals joined to form a well-constructed course to benefit healthcare workers who are interested in this field of study.

The event took place in the main auditorium of King Saud University’s Faculty of Medicine and span across the 2nd & 3rd of February. The course included a number of sessions that where dedicated to topics and diseases that were related to Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Being part of the topics that were discussed, Celiac disease was the talking point in the 2nd session of the 1st day, the session was divided into 4 parts in the following order:


Title of Speech

10am – 10:30

Prof. Marc Benninga from AMC, Amsterdam, Netherlands, started the session by talking about Management strategies for childhood constipation

10:30 – 10:50

Then came Dr. Bader Alsaleem from KFMC, Riyadh, to talk about future thereby for Celiac Disease 

10:50 – 11:20

Then it was Dr. Nikhil Thapar from Great Ormond Street Hospital, turn to talk about Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

11:20 – 11:40

And to conclude the session, Dr. Maher Hatlani from King Abdulaziz Medical City for National Guards, Riyadh, talked about the prevalence of Celiac Disease among healthy children from Eastern region in Saudi Arabia
